OUR SCORE 9.8

HandsMobile has become an essential part of the new generation of accounting. You need not depend any more on filing cabinets and static storage to store your accounting data and software. Online accounting means you can work anytime, anywhere, on any device.

A recent business study by Intuit reveals that mobile users can save up to nine weeks per year by effectively using mobile devices. About 80% of business owners admitted they required anytime, anywhere access to their company data. Thus, it has become a necessity for accounting software vendors to provide mobile solutions.

Businesses can use mobile solutions to update contact information, check customer balances, and invoice and get payment in the field. This data is updated automatically in the accounting application. This helps to improve cash flow and profitability, and reduces customer management expenses. Businesses also become more efficient in customer service.

Young entrepreneurs take mobile solutions for granted, reveals the Intuit business study. Not surprisingly, a slew of vendors including Xero, MYOB, and Intuit are offering mobile apps that enable users to perform important tasks on their smartphone. For example, you can use MYOB’s free mobile app to manage contacts and invoicing, send receipts, and collect payments from customers. Our software directory will assist you in making a smart choice with a detailed list of reviews of all sorts of accounting software products.

We can safely expect more announcements, innovations, and mobile solutions from accounting software suppliers to help businesses manage their accounting tasks on mobile devices.

According to a Forbes study, most executives operate on a multidevice basis, using their laptop, smartphone, and office PC depending where they are. So having an accounting software with a solid mobile app is a plus, but not necessarily a deal-maker. At the end of it, you want a software with fully functional tools that your accountant/bookkeeper can use; while you as the senior executive need only access to the reports.

Go get a software with strong emphasis on mobility if you’re a consulting accountant who services multiple clients in different locations. But a heads up on the list above, many of these apps are not comparable 1:1. Some like Xpenditure are specific-app that only deals with expenses, while Sage 50 is a fully featured software.
