Your clothes were made in a sweatshop. They were made by a young woman, poorly paid, who was nonetheless excited to have the opportunity to make them. Her alternative, her life without making them; that would have been much worse.
Jasmine works six days a week for $3 per day; this amounts to barely more than a quarter per hour. She lives in Bangladesh. The only thing keeping her hard at work? The fact that her life before–living with her family and farming–she had to worry about whether or not she would have enough to eat. Now, the worry is what to do with her $10 of monthly spending money. A long way to go–but a large step forward. The world is complicated, beautiful, and immensely tearful.

Her suffering comes from the one malady common to all mankind - greed. We will never rid the world of those who exploit others, yet I sure wish we could.
Her story should humble us all. We complain too much about things which are so trivial. While this woman -and many like her- would think they had gone to heaven to be in our place.
I believe we will one day be held accountable for those we could've fed, clothed, or protected, but instead we chose to turn away.
