Companies leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) for SaaS deployment now have another powerful tool at their disposal with the recent release of Amplify Studio for general availability. As a low code virtual interface, Amplify Studio makes it easy for developers to build and complete web and mobile apps in just hours. It simplifies front and backend development and is a great addition to other existing features and tools within AWS services for SaaS. New features include component theming and support for UI event handlers, among others.
With Amplify Studio, developers can skip writing front-end component code from scratch. Instead, they can quickly choose from dozens of rich user interface (UI) React components for popular features and connect a UI to the backend in just a few clicks. All components are customizable—users can override the default themes so they can match them with their company’s or client’s style guides. Components can also be linked to backend services even without cloud or AWS experience.
Moreover, Amplify Studio seamlessly integrates with the popular web-based design platform, Figma. Designers can easily collaborate with developers by creating and customizing UI elements and importing them directly into Amplify Studio as code. All UI and infrastructure artifacts are converted into JavaScript or TypeScript; thus, providing developers with full control over the design, behavior, and functionality of their apps.
Key Capabilities of Amplify Studio
Amazon remains to be one of the tech giants dominating the global cloud computing market for SaaS. AWS provides a wide range of tools and resources to companies at any stage of their SaaS development or their shift to a cloud-based business environment. AWS first released Amplify Studio in 2021 and touted its capabilities to build extensible, full-stack web and mobile apps faster. SaaS developers can easily start with the platform and use it to scale their processes.
Some of the key capabilities of Amplify Studio include a visual backend builder, accelerated UI development and Figma to React code, app backend management, and a component editor to visually connect the UI components to data. Amplify Studio offers a developer-friendly approach to low code by automatically translating visual changes into clean react code. This allows SaaS development teams to focus on the business logic and build a great app experience. With the GA release, SaaS developers can now access other services, including AWS Amplify Hosting services, Amplify’s fully managed CI/CD, and other hosting services for scalable web applications.
In an AWS blog post, lead developer at AWS Amplify, Ali Spittel stated, “Amplify Studio was built to make developers’ lives easier and smooth the designer-developer handoff. The code being easy to modify and extend is critical—there are multiple ways for developers to do so with Amplify Studio-generated components.”
Additionally, senior developer advocate at AWS, Christian Nwamba, explained that Amplify Studio can significantly reduce the manual development work usually involved in building an application interface. Low code tools are also becoming very popular among software teams, so Amplify Studio is a tool to consider for SaaS companies.
AWS Amplify Studio’s UI development capabilities are available in 17 AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), US West (N. California), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), Europe (London), Europe (Paris), Europe (Stockholm), South America (São Paulo), and Middle East (Bahrain).
