Eadie Kay says:

ActiveCampaign should be much higher up on the list. It’s a great alternative for businesses who are looking to upgrade their email marketing system. Similar to MailChimp, it offers drag-and-drop email builders and segmentation options. However, ActiveCampaign is much more powerful in a sense that it has a more extensive feature list.

What makes it a better option than MailChimp is that it has better automation options without compromising usability. For starters, it allows you to send emails based on customer actions. It also lets you create multiple goals for separate workflows. Moreover, the platform offers an automation map where you can connect different workflows to each other, simplifying funnel automation. It can also run conditional content for your emails. In addition, this platform also comes with great customizable website forms.

Perhaps the only disadvantage in choosing ActiveCampaign over MailChimp is the price. This platform is definitely more expensive at roughly $50 every month. After all, the product also comes with advanced marketing automation and sales CRM modules so you can expect that it would be more costly. This rate also comes inclusive of unlimited emails per month, support for up to 25 users, and one-on-one training from their in-house experts.

Austin Craig says:

Quite frankly, I think EmailOctopus should be on the list. It’s comparable to MailChimp in terms of interface and features. First off, they have similar processes for importing/exporting subscriber lists as well as scheduling drip campaigns, except MailChimp comes with more customizable workflows.

It also comes with a drag and drop email builder complete with templates that you can quickly personalize. In case you already have a premade email design, it also supports HTML, so you can simply copy and paste the code to run it. Lastly, it has basic reporting options for open rates, click-throughs and unsubscribes for easy monitoring.

Plus, EmailOctopus is, in my opinion, the best low-cost alternative to MailChimp. An email list of 200,000 only costs around $400 bucks per month. That’s a far cry from MailChimp’s $1000/month pricing. I think the vendor has other pricing options depending on subscribers and other factors. But pretty much all of their plans come with a good combination of basic and premium features. So, you can be sure that it will give you a run for your money.

The only thing you’ll be missing if you opt for EmailOctopus instead of MailChimp is segmentation. If you are working with multiple consumer groups at a time, MailChimp is certainly the better option. Otherwise, EmailOctopus would be just fine.

Aryaan Ferreira says:

The list is missing Klaviyo. This is a better MailChimp alternative, especially for eCommerce businesses. While it is similar to MailChimp in terms of offering an easy-to-use drag-and-drop builder, it offers tighter integrations to apps like Shopify. Meaning, you’ll easily be able to import/export data from the different platforms that you use for your operations. Plus, it comes with custom automations that are far more sophisticated than MailChimp.

Don’t get me wrong, MailChimp is a good email marketing software. However, it doesn’t offer as much flexibility as Klaviyo. Plus, it can be limiting if you are looking to roll out multiple automation rules for different conditions. For example, while MailChimp can let you create a workflow for leads who abandoned their cart, the platform isn’t capable of supporting separate automation rules for, say, first-time purchases and repeat purchases that have abandoned their carts.

On the other hand, Klaviyo has the ability to hyper-segment your email lists for more personalized campaigns. Meaning, you can create different categories and subcategories based on customer demographics, purchasing patterns, as well as what stage they are in the buying process. This way, it is much easier to create customized email campaigns for your consumers.

However, the only downside with Klaviyo is that it comes at a much higher price tag than MailChimp. So, it might not be the best alternative if you are on a budget. If this is a critical issue for you, might as well check the other options here.
